*sigh* it's so unfortunate, i really want to try path finder king maker, but hearing things like this, really really makes me not want to try it, even if the time limit you are given in act 1 or whatever is adequate, an instant game over for not defending your kingdom properly? oi that churns my belly hearing things like that, rumor has it that you can put your keep on "auto" or whatever but isn't that defeating the purpose on what that games is about? Unlike NWN2, where kingdom management is both mandatory and feels forced onto a plot that didn't need it. Compare to PoE1 and 2, where it makes no sense for the main quest not to be on a timer.Īnd kingdom management is not mandatory. I have 449 hours of gameplay logged on Kingmaker, and I have never run out of time. That being said what bothers me about the game and makes me not want to play it is how the kingdom management is mandatory and if you screw it up it's an instant game over. thaco is acting like it's majora's mask and your always on a timer. Now i don't know the context of the timer as i have not played the game but yeah it is just act 1. The only timer is on chapter One (of eight), and that gives you plenty of time to see everything, and still spend a couple of weeks camping. I don't know who you have been listening too, but that simply isn't true.

With mods to scale up the UI, it's playable at 4k. I don't think nwn2 needs an enhanced edition as much.
The false sense of urgency in games has gotten ridiculous. What's atrocious is OMG the world is ending you have to save it, but I think I'm going to go screw around, everyone wait for me to kill these rats. You can even turn off all the kingdom management stuff if you want, and that'll give you even more time. That's not to say, if you're exploring an area for the main quest, come across something unrelated to the main quest, that you can't do it.

The game just plays the opposite of most RPGs, you do the main quest stuff first, then explore, do kingdom building and sidequests in the free time between the main events. I've got to disagree, there's plenty of time to explore and do sidequests. The design decision here is just ATROCIOUS. Exploration? Side quests? Screw that! You're on a schedule! Oh yeah, lets time freaking everything so that players have to speed through the game to see as much content as possible before being locked out. Kingmaker was a pack of three premium modules created using the extensive creation kit for the game and many of them were made by the community.Īt the moment information is still scarce as we don't even have a release window other than the "Coming Soon" at the end of the trailer but expect plenty more information to be shared via the announcement livestream on the Beamdog Twitch page.Pathfinder: Kingmaker is the game NWN2 wanted to be.
The first two formed a separate campaign that presumes a different character than the main campaign telling of their story from the apprentice of a retired adventurer to going through the depths of the underdark under Waterdeep. The description of the video states that this is covering the Diamond edition of the game, meaning all three expansions for Neverwinter Nights, Shadows of Undrentide, Hordes of the Underdark and Kingmaker will be included.
Support for save games and mods from the original 2002 release.Updated UI with support for up to 4K resolution displays.Advanced graphical options allowing the player to change settings such as pixel shaders, contrast, and depth of field.A trailer showing off some of those changes has already been posted. Even though the surprise has been ruined Beamdog still plan to host a livestream to show off to fans some of the enhancements that they can expect to see. It wasn't too long after that though that word got out that their announcement was a return to Neverwinter Nights. what's this #countdown for? /z8fXh6xCEYīeamdog started hinting at an announcement yesterday when a countdown timer appeared on their website which was set to expire on the 21st of November at 12 pm PST.

Neverwinter Nights was originally released over 15 years ago back in early 2002 for PC with versions for Linux and Mac being released a year later and made use of Bioware's Aurora Engine. For those unfamiliar with Beamdog and their studio Overhaul Games, they have been remaking games that ran on the Infinity Engine such as Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, and most recently Planetscape. Canada based development studio/publisher Beamdog announced that their new project would be an Enhanced Edition of the classic Neverwinter Nights.
